AITP Omaha Minutes – Membership meeting 2/16/06

Meeting location:  Omaha Press Club (On 22nd floor of the First National Bank building) 14th & Dodge, Omaha, NE.

  1. The meeting was called to order by Lloyd Hasche, Executive VP at 6:30 PM.
    1. Lloyd talked about the success of the Infotec® kickoff meeting and thanked Ken Koehn and ASCIT for their sponsorship of that event.
    2. Vatterott College expressed an interest in starting a student chapter.  Lloyd visited the school, briefing the faculty and students on the AITP organization.  They will be starting a chapter very soon.
    3. A visit to ITT will be made on March 14th.  The administrators there are also very interested in starting a student chapter.  Lloyd has set up two visits to their campus.
    4. Lloyd briefed that we need volunteers to be facilitators for the Infotec® sessions.  The signup list will be brought to the next meeting.  Facilitators will be able to attend one session free.
    5. Dave Williams has volunteered to be the AITP booth coordinator at Infotec®.  He will be posting an announcement and a suggested schedule on the chapter web site soon.  We will need volunteers to staff the booth answering AITP questions, networking with other IT professionals, etc.
  1. Carol Rosenow, a Database Administrator (DBA) with Qwest gave a presentation on the many changes occurring with MS SQL 2005.  The session was very interesting and informative as evidenced by the number and depth of questions being asked and answered.  She did bring 30 day evaluation copies of SQL 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 so that those that were interested could “kick the tires” on these products.
  1. Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.  The next meeting is scheduled for March 16th, 2006 at the Omaha Press Club, located on the 22nd floor of the old First National Bank Building. The meeting will include an Infotec® preview and sign up sheets for volunteers.
